Having all boys is something special! I have 4 boys and I love it! You can read a little about our all boy family here. Having only boys means my family operates a little differently then an all girl or boy and girl family. So here are 11 reasons why having all boys is awesome!

01 BOY CLOTHES

Boy clothes are just cheaper! It probably has something to do with no ruffles, sequence or rhinestones.

The best part is hand-me-downs save you so much money. No joke. I go shopping in my bins of clothes all the time. So and so needs a larger winter jacket…oh look I have one right here! I just saved myself $40!

To make this work don’t buy cheap from the start. You want the clothes to last and Walmart brands just don’t last. You can always find great deals online, Carter’s is my go too. They constantly have online sales with name brand clothes that really last.

Keep the clothes organized in large water proof bins (depending on where you store them). I use these big bins with the black boxes and yellow lids. I love how durable and easy they are to stack. I have found the best way to label them is 0-6 months, 9-12 months, 18-24 months, then 3-4 years, 5-6 years, 7-8 years etc.

Dressing them is so easy. Forget stockings and cardigans! Just need a top and a bottom here. My boys don’t care about what they are wearing so the outfit battles are basically nonexistent. Heck they would prefer to wear nothing!

02 BOYS HAIR

Oh my gosh I love how easy it is to do their hair! School mornings and before church are so busy I don’t know how mom’s with girls find time to do their hair!

I keep a water bottle in the kitchen and just spritz any bed head they might have and I’m done. If I’m feeling fancy a little hair spray with a swoosh of a comb and bam their good! No bows, intricate designs or bobby pins!

Boys hair is also so easy to cut! I have always cut all my boys hair. Definitely saved over $1000 doing this! I did the math! I have this great clipper from Amazon, watched a couple YouTube videos and done. Trust me if I can do it you can do it!

03 LOVE THEIR MAMA

There is something between a mom and her son. It can’t be described but it is wonderful. They have such unconditional love and forgiveness it always amazes me.

Being the only girl in their life they just treasure you! We are raising gentlemen and that starts with the mom and son relationship. They open the doors for me, I order first at the restaurant, I get extra hugs, cuddles and a kiss on the cheek.

Oh how I love the hugs and cuddles! My boys just love to be with me and it makes me feel so grateful for them!

04 I GET TO BE THE ONLY GIRL IN THE HOUSE

I get treated like a queen. Plus I don’t have to share my stuff. Jewelry is all mine, shoes all mine, clothes all mine, hair accessories and products ALL MINE!

I have found myself becoming more feminine. I know that sounds weird but in the sea of testosterone I have to hold my own. That pink water bottle is mine, so is that pink camping chair. You get the picture!

Some may see this as lonely but I like to see it as a special thing. I’m the queen of the castle with a bunch of adorable princes.

05 BOYS ARE LAID BACK

There is a very laid back atmosphere in our home. Arguments or disagreements last seconds instead of days. My boys just don’t sweat the small stuff.

Laid back doesn’t mean any behavior goes but we do take things less serious.

Because we are intentionally raising gentlemen our boys are not excessively rowdy or obnoxious about passing gas exert-era (they say their excuse me, please and thank yous).

06 ADVENTUROUS IMAGINATION

Boys love to play hero, to fight off the bad guys! They love to imagine worlds and it is so wonderful to see. There is very little sit still and color time around here.

They love to get physical and do what some might deem dangerous stuff. Like jumping off their bunk beds, flips off the couch and climbing on the outside of the play equipment.

I never discourage this. I trust their physical and mental ability to judge safety and we have never had an issue. Heck, I grew up doing all these things too and loved it, so I would never want to deny them the same experiences.

These boys get me up and outdoors on wild adventures, which is always so fun. These boys are all for rock climbing, sledding and all those fun outdoor sports. I’m so grateful for their wild imaginations!

07 LITTLE PROTECTORS

These boys are little protectors through and through. They look out for me and for their brothers. It makes me so happy to see them helping their brother up after a fall or teaching them to stay on the sidewalk.

When I’m sad or having a bad day they do the sweetest things to make me feel better. They give me a hug, do an extra chore, help with their brothers.

They just have such perfect love and want to protect their family. It is so heart warming!

08 MORE ACTION LESS TALK

My boys love to move constantly. They will only sit and talk for a moment. Usually while we are in the car and I have them trapped. For the most part they are running off energy but never seem to actually run out.

They get me up and moving which is great.

They just don’t need to talk as much about their feelings. We’ll have a quick word and then they go and do. They are more take action then sit and talk about problems. This is something I can learn from.

09 LESS WORRY

I feel a little less worried for their safety. Knowing that my boys will grow into strong young men that can defend themselves and if need be someone else is a real comfort.

My boys are very capable physically, good reflexes and good sense. So I have not had to worry about serious injuries.

I like to think this is because we gave them a lot of practice by not hovering over them when they were doing more risky stunts on the tramp or on their bikes. They have learned their limits.

10 THEY HAVE BUILT IN BEST FRIENDS

First, like I had my sisters my boys will have their brothers. They all have so much in common. They like the same kind of activities, shows, games. They think similarly which allows them more common ground on which they have built eternal friendships.

These friendships will serve them throughout their lives as they experience graduation, college, marriage and kids. They know they will always have family to fall back on in any circumstances. Like I have mine siblings.

I’m so glad to know they will have each other long after my husband and I will have passed on.

We are building and laying this foundation of friendship every chance we get. From simply encouraging they to work as a team (they have a nick name “C4” and often chant it!) to family activities and beyond.

Second, I’m not so interested in star wars, sword fighting or jumping off the bed a million times. And because they have built in best friends I don’t have to be! They have brothers that would love to talk about light sabers or run in circles around the couch with them. I’ve just been saved! Hallelujah!

11 SAME INTERESTS

Picking entertainment and family activities is so much easier with all boys. They all have the same interests in games, sports, shows and so on. This saves so much time at family movie night!

With our oldest we were the ones teaching him catch, how to ride a bike or how to sword fight. Now the older boys have taken on that role. The Younger boys see their brother doing something and they want to do it too. All the boys seem to learn so much faster from each other then they ever did from Mom and Dad.

So there you have it! 11 reasons why having all boys is awesome! What are your thoughts! What would you add to my list?
